T.R. 505 Bridge Replacement Project Set To Begin
Comer Schoolhouse Road to be closed next week
Chillicothe (Tuesday, August 23, 2015) – A bridge replacement project on Township Road 505 (Comer Schoolhouse Road) will soon be under way, as contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Jackson County Engineer’s Office start construction early next week.
Crews from DGM, Incorporated will be replacing the single-span bridge over Bucklick Creek with a non-composite, prestressed concrete box beam. The project site is located at the route’s 0.41-mile marker, just east of the Scioto County line, and construction will also include roadway approach work.
Crews are scheduled to begin Monday, August 29, with Comer Schoolhouse Road being closed to traffic for up to 75 days. While the route is closed, motorists will be detoured by way of T.R. 218 (Charles Russ Road) and S.R. 139 in Scioto County to C.R. 52 (Bucklick Creek Road) in Jackson County.
DGM, Inc. was awarded a contract in the amount of $456,483 to complete the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed in mid to late fall.
The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 11, 2015, and executed by FHWA and ODOT.
