TIC, Pike-32 Rest Area Slated For Temporary Closure
Chillicothe (Friday, March 4, 2011) – As part of a statewide project to upgrade rest areas around the state, two facilities in the Ohio Department of Transportation - District 9 region are slated for temporary closure this month.
On Monday, March 7, the Travel Information Center located on U.S. 23 in Scioto County will be closed to the traveling public for a remodeling project that will upgrade the facility’s plumbing, electric, heating and cooling systems, and other utilities for greater efficiency.
In addition, to the TIC, the rest area located on state Route 32 in Pike County, just east of the Adams County line, will be closed later this month for its remodeling. Closure of this park will go into effect on Monday, March 21, and both rest areas are scheduled to be closed for up to 150 days.
Since last year, ODOT has been working to upgrade 44 rest areas and travel centers around the state to be more energy efficient, environmentally responsible and customer friendly. In District 9, two other facilities – located on S.R. 32 in Brown County and on U.S. 35 in Jackson County – have undergone similar renovation projects. These facilities, which were closed last fall, are scheduled to reopen March 14 and March 21, respectively.
