Temporary Closure Of Adams-52 Needed For Bridge Replacement Route to be closed Tuesday for beam installation
Chillicothe (Thursday, August 18, 2016) – As part of an ongoing bridge replacement project on U.S. Route 52 in Adams County, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will close the route temporarily in order to set beams.
On Tuesday, August 23, crews from Complete General Construction will close U.S. 52 at the 12.49-mile marker, where a bridge replacement over Donaldson Creek is under way. The project site is located between Township Road 285 (Lindsey Hollow Road) and T.R. 59 (Buckeye Station Road), and the contractors are replacing the single-span concrete beam bridge with a similar structure in a design-build project.
The single-day closure will be in effect from approximately 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and while the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 247 at West Union and S.R. 136 at Manchester. Once the beams have been set, the route will be reopened to one, 10-foot lane, and traffic will be maintained by temporary signals until the project is completed.
The Complete General Construction Company was awarded a contract for approximately $897,254 to replace the bridge, and all work is anticipated to be completed in early fall. Motorists are advised of the need for additional caution in the work zone.
