Tennyson Road Bridge Rehab Gets Under Way
Chillicothe (Thursday, March 6, 2014) – Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will undertake a bridge rehab project on County Road 85 (Tennyson Road) in Pike County, with closure of the route going in effect next week.
On Monday, March 10, Tennyson Road will be closed to traffic for contractors to rehabilitate the bridge located over Sunfish Creek at the 0.91-mile marker; the project site is situated immediately west of C.R. 21 Sunfish Creek Road) and approximately one mile east of state Route 772. Construction also includes the replacement of the concrete deck, steel beams and abutments.
“Bridge replacement projects such as this are necessary for the safety of motorists and the preservation of our routes, both on and off the state highway system, and we are pleased to be working with Denny Salisbury and the Pike County Engineer’s Office on this project,” said ODOT District 9 Deputy Director Vaughn Wilson.
The Righter Company was awarded a contract in the amount of $1,004,922 to complete the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed by mid-summer. The closure will be in effect for up to 120 days, and while the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 772 and S.R. 32.
