Traffic Signal Going Up At Ross-159 & Hopetown Road
Chillicothe - Construction is under way for a new traffic signal on northern Bridge Street in Ross County, according to Ohio Department of Transportation District 9 Deputy Director James A. Brushart.
This week, crews from Complete General Construction are beginning site preparations for the installation of a stop-and-go traffic signal at the intersection of state Route 159 (Business U.S. 23/Bridge Steet) and Hopetown Road, approximately one-half mile north of the Chillicothe corporation limit.
"With new development and increased traffic volumes on northern Bridge Street, the intersection has met the signal warrants as outlined by the state," said Brushart. "The signal installation is a safety project, and the signal should help better mitigate traffic passing through this busy intersection."
While crews are working at the site, traffic will be maintained on both routes with the aid of flaggers as needed. Complete General was awarded a contract in the amount of $277,605, and the scheduled completion date is July 31.
