Travel Information Center Reopening Next Week
Chillicothe (Friday, July 8, 2011) – As a renovation and remodeling project wraps up this week, the Travel Information Center (TIC) on U.S. Route 23 in Scioto County is set to reopen, beating the scheduled mid-August completion.
On Monday, July 11, the TIC that is located just south of the Scioto-Pike County line will be reopened to the traveling public following a remodeling project to upgrade the facility’s plumbing, electric, heating and cooling systems, and other utilities for greater efficiency.
The TIC was closed March 7, and although crews had a 150-day window for completion, the project has been completed one month ahead of schedule.
The renovation was part of a statewide project in which ODOT has been working to upgrade 44 rest areas and travel centers around the state to be more energy efficient, environmentally responsible and customer friendly.
In District 9, facilities located on U.S. 35 in Jackson County and on S.R. 32 in Brown and Pike Counties have undergone similar renovation projects.
