U.S. 23 Temporary Lane Restrictions Next Week
Chillicothe (Thursday, January 14, 2016) – Temporary lane restrictions will be imparted one day next week on U.S. Route 23 in Scioto County as part of the Southern Ohio Veterans Memorial Highway construction project.
On Monday, January 18, crews from the Portsmouth Joint Venture (PJV) will close the southbound driving lane of U.S. 23 between S.R. 728/348 at Lucasville and County Road 55 (Fairground Road) for equipment delivery.
The temporary restriction is scheduled to be in effect from approximately 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with traffic restored to both lanes by early afternoon. Motorists are reminded of the need for additional caution when traveling through this and other work zones.
In the spirit of a public-private partnership, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Portsmouth Gateway Group are constructing the new state Route 823, a 16-mile, four-lane, limited access highway from U.S. 23 at Lucasville to U.S. 52 at Sciotoville in Scioto County. The Southern Ohio Veterans Memorial Highway is the department’s first P3 project and the largest, modern earthwork project to be constructed in the state’s history.
