McCarty Reconstruction To Begin For U.S. 35 Grade Separation
Road to be closed temporarily for next phase of project
Chillicothe (Wednesday, May 27, 2015) – As part of a grade separation project over U.S. Route 35 in Jackson County, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will impart a temporary closure effective next week at County Road 9 (McCarty Lane).
On Monday, June 1, McCarty Lane will be closed between U.S. 35 and Acey Avenue for its reconstruction and intersection relocation. The closure will be in effect through mid to late July, and while it is closed, motorists will be detoured as follows:
- McCarty Lane traffic will be detoured via Acey Avenue and Industry Drive to U.S. 35 East and West.
- U.S. 35 traffic to McCarty Lane will be detoured via Keystone Furnace Road to Industry Drive to Acey Avenue. U.S. 35 East traffic will be directed to turn left onto Keystone Furnace, while westbound U.S. 35 motorists will be directed to turn right.
Motorists are advised to use additional caution in the construction zone and through the detours established for the maintenance of traffic plan.
The project includes the construction of an overpass to relocate the intersection of McCarty Lane and Keystone Furnace Road with U.S. 35, as well as relocating Industry Drive, McCarty Lane and Acey Avenue and constructing a roundabout at the McCarty Lane and Acey Avenue intersection.
Beaver Excavating was awarded a contract for approximately $4.86 million to construct the grade separation, and the project is anticipated to be completed in the summer of 2015.
