U.S. 52 East Restriction Scheduled Next Week
Chillicothe (Thursday, May 26, 2016) – U.S. Route 52 East in Scioto County will be restricted two days next week in conjunction with construction for the Southern Ohio Veterans Memorial Highway corridor.
On Wednesday and Thursday, June 1 and 2, U.S. 52 East will be reduced to one lane between the S.R. 140 exit and the S.R. 522 exit at Wheelersburg, where crews from the Portsmouth Joint Venture (PJV) will be installing barrier wall along the shoulder.
The single-lane restriction will go into effect at approximately 7 a.m. Wednesday and continue until 5 p.m. Thursday. Once the barrier wall has been placed, eastbound U.S. 52 will be reopened to two lanes, and the barrier will remain in place along the shoulder through July.

In the spirit of a public-private partnership, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Portsmouth Gateway Group are constructing the new state Route 823, a 16-mile, four-lane, limited access highway from U.S. 23 at Lucasville to U.S. 52 at Sciotoville in Scioto County. The Southern Ohio Veterans Memorial Highway is the department’s first P3 project and the largest, modern earthwork project to be constructed in the state’s history.
