U.S. 35 Still Closed In Jackson County
Route may be reopened to one lane by 7 p.m. tonight
Chillicothe (Wednesday, February 10, 4:45 p.m.)- Although a set time to reopen eastbound U.S. Route 35 has not been established, officials working at the scene anticipate the route to be open this evening.
U.S. 35 East is closed at the 6.32-mile marker near Caves Road, between the Jackson-Ross County line and the city of Jackson, following a rock slide that disabled a semi-tractor trailer. Only the eastbound lanes of the route were affected by this closure that occurred at approximately 4 a.m. today.
As law enforcement and transportation officials complete the initial clean up efforts, they anticipate the route to be reopened to one lane by approximately 7 p.m. tonight. The driving lane of the route will remain closed, however, until such time that the site can be investigated and determined if any additional debris or rock is likely to fall from the hillside.
