U.S. 52 Closure Slated This Week
Chillicothe - Temporary closure of U.S. Route 52 in Brown and Clermont counties is on tap for one day this week while contractors transport a transformer from Kentucky to Ohio.
On Thursday, August 21, crews from Edwards Moving and Rigging of Shelbyville, Ky., will transport an electrical transformer from a power plant in Kentucky to the W.C. Beckjord Station (Duke Energy) in New Richmond, Ohio.
Currently, it is scheduled that the route be closed in a rolling operation beginning at anytime after 9 a.m. and continuing throughout most of the day. The move will be contingent upon the weather, and the duration of closure will be dependent upon the company's ability to facilitate the overall operation.
Because this is a rolling operation, there will be no posted detour; however, motorists should be prepared for long periods of delay and should seek alternate routes or plan their routes and travel times accordingly.
The move is being coordinated in conjunction with Kentucky and Ohio law enforcement agencies, which will be assisting with traffic control.
