U.S. Grant Bridge Slated For Routine Inspection
Chillicothe - As part of its regular maintenance, the U.S. Grant Bridge in Scioto County will undergo a series of routine inspections next week.
Beginning Monday, September 22, and continuing throughout the week, inspectors and engineers from the Ohio Department of Transportation District 9's Bridge and Traffic Studies Office will be conducting physical inspections during daytime hours as weather permits.
Most work will be conducted along the shoulders of the structure, and there should be little impact to traffic. However, intermittent lane restrictions and short-term delays may be necessary as crews move equipment in and out of the project area.
The U.S. Grant Bridge, which carries U.S. Route 23 from Portsmouth, Ohio, to South Shore, Kentucky, was opened to traffic in October 2006, and the annual inspections are part of the state’s aggressive bridge inspection program.
