Wakefield Mound Road Rehab Project Set To Begin
Chillicothe (Friday, September 2, 2016) – Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Pike County Engineer’s Office will undertake a pavement rehabilitation project on County Road 84 (Wakefield Mound Road) in Pike County, with construction starting next week.
Crews from Allard Excavation will begin work to resurface and rehabilitate Wakefield Mound Road from just south of the Department of Energy entrance to just north of Township Road 603 (Seif Road). The project also includes replacing a culvert just north of the route’s junction with Seif Road, and this is where construction will start.
On Tuesday, September 6, Wakefield Mound Road will be closed at Seif Road, and the closure is anticipated to be in effect for up to two weeks. During this initial phase of construction, motorists will be detoured by way of Seif Road, U.S. Route 23 and state Route 32. At all other times during the project, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers.
Allard Excavation, of South Webster, was awarded a contract in the amount of $403,926 to complete the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed by mid-fall.
The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 11, 2015, and executed by FHWA and ODOT.
