District 9 Weekly Travel Report

 

For the week ending August 30, 2014: The following traffic advisory includes road construction and major maintenance projects requiring lane restrictions and/or closures along the state and federal highway system within ODOT District 9. For statewide information regarding road conditions affected by  weather, construction, maintenance or accidents, visit ODOT on the web at www.Ohgo.com 

Districtwide

A two-lane micro-resurfacing project is under way at various locations in Adams, Highland and Lawrence counties. Crews will be working on S.R. 136 and S.R. 247 in Adams County; S.R. 138 in Highland County; and S.R. 141 in Lawrence County, and traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers and/or arrow boards. All work is anticipated to be completed in early fall. (#14-0306)

A guardrail repair and replacement project is under way, and crews will be replacing guardrail at various locations in Lawrence, Pike and Scioto counties. Traffic will be maintained in one lane by flaggers and temporary signals as needed when crews are at work. The project is scheduled to be completed in late fall.  (#14-0342)

Adams County

A pavement marking project is under way at various locations on county roads in Adams County. Traffic will be maintained in one lane by flaggers as needed when crews are at work. The project is scheduled to be completed in early fall.  (#14-0411)

A guardrail replacement project is under way at various locations on Brown Hill Road, Tranquility Pike, Compton Hill Road, Roush Hill Road and Island Creek Road. Traffic will be maintained in one lane by flaggers and temporary signals as needed when crews are at work. The project is scheduled to be completed by late fall.  (#14-0410)

A culvert liner project is under way on S.R. 41, approximately one mile east of the Adams-Brown County line. Crews will be installing a liner through the existing culvert, and although there should be little impact to motorists, traffic will be maintained by flaggers as needed. The project is scheduled to be completed by mid-fall.  (#14-0361)

S.R. 41 will be reduced to one lane during daytime, business hours between S.R. 32 at Peebles and the Highland County line for a resurfacing project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained with the aid flaggers, and the project is scheduled to be completed by late summer. (#14-0124)

S.R. 125 is closed between Riley Hollow and Hazelbaker roads for a bridge replacement project. The closure is anticipated to be in effect through September 8, and while the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 348 and Blue Creek Road. (#14-0004)

 

S.R. 32 is reduced to one lane in each direction between C.R. 10 (Unity Road) and T.R. 2004 (Barry McFarland Drive) for a culvert replacement project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in a minimum of one, 10-foot lane in each direction. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-fall. (#14-0303)

Brown County

U.S. 68 is open to traffic following a turn-lane addition project  at the S.R. 32 interchange in Mt. Orab. Crews will complete signal installation and coordination, and traffic will be maintained on the affected routes by flaggers and/or arrow boards when crews are at work. The project is scheduled to be completed in late summer. (#13-3020)

A sidewalk/bike path construction project is under way in Aberdeen. As part of the SRTS program, crews will be constructing a shared-use path along U.S. 52, between Huntington Avenue and Elm Street. There should be little to no impact to traffic, and the project is scheduled to be completed in early fall.  (#14-0372)

 

Highland County

September 8-26: S.R. 134 will be closed at the 18.52-mile marker for a culvert replacement project. The project site is located just north of C.R. 8 (Panhandle Road), between Lynchburg and the Highland-Clinton County line. The closure will go into effect at approximately 8 a.m. on September 8 and continue until 4 p.m. Friday, September 26. While S.R. 134 is closed, motorists will be detoured by way of  S.R. 124 in Clinton County, U.S. 50 at Hillsboro and S.R. 135 at Allensburg.

S.R. 134 is closed  at the 6.01-mile marker, immediately south of T.R. 406 (Rosselott Road) and approximately one mile north of S.R. 138 at Buford, for a bridge rehabilitation. Throughout construction, the route will be closed, and motorists will be detoured via S.R. 138 and S.R. 131. All work is anticipated to be completed in late fall. (#14-0277)

An intersection improvement project is under way at C.R. 5 (Prospect Road), C.R. 74B (Pleasant Road), T.R. 192A (Main Road). Throughout construction, Prospect Road will be closed, and motorists will be detoured via S.R. 73, C.R. 21 (N. Union Road) and C.R. 93 (Harriett Road). All work is anticipated to be completed in late fall. (#14-0014)

Jackson County

U.S. 35 is reduced to one lane in each direction for a rock fall/slide repair project just east of C.R. 71 (Lloyds Bridge Road). Crews are excavating and reconstructing the rock slopes, and traffic will be maintained in a minimum of one, 12-foot lane at all times. The project is scheduled to be completed in early fall.  (#14-0114)

Operations for a grade separation project at U.S. 35 and C.R. 9 (Keystone Furnace Road) are under way. Currently, traffic impacts are minimal, and traffic will be maintained on all mainline routes during construction. The project is scheduled to be completed by early summer of 2015. (#14-0140)

A resurfacing project on S.R. 93 between the northern corporation limit of Jackson and the Jackson-Vinton County line, and operations are under way in the city of Wellston. Traffic will be maintained with the aid flaggers when crews are at work, and the project is scheduled to be completed by late summer or early fall. (#14-0141)

 

A resurfacing project is under way on S.R. 32, where crews are paving between T.R. 259 (Cutlip Road) and the S.R. 327 interchange at Wellston; resurfacing will also include paving the interchange ramps at S.R. 327. Traffic will be maintained in one, 12-foot lane in each direction. The project is scheduled to be completed by mid-fall.  (#14-0311)  


Lawrence County

As part of the SRTS program, a sidewalk construction project is under way along Park, High, Seventh and Washington streets in South Point. There should be little to no impact traffic, and traffic will be maintained on the affected routes. The project is scheduled to be completed by mid to late summer. (#14-0280)

A bridge replacement project is under way on S.R. 7 at the Indian Guyan Creek bridge, just west of Proctorville. Traffic is being maintained in one, 11-foot lane with temporary traffic signals, and all work is scheduled to be completed by late fall. (#14-0078)

The Ironton-Russell Bridge replacement project is under way, with work being conducted off affected roadways. In addition to localized closures affecting downtown traffic, motorists are advised of equipment entering and exiting the work zone in Ironton and at the U.S. 23 viaduct in Kentucky. (#11-0628)

As part of the Ironton-Russell Bridge replacement, First Street and Campbell Avenue in Ironton will be closed intermittently during daytime, business hours for construction of the Ohio approach. Crews will move from site to site, imparting separate closures as they progress through this phase of the project. Motorists will be detoured locally in downtown.

Pike County

A bridge replacement and realignment project is under way on T.R. 524 (Swift Creek Road), at its junction with S.R. 335. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with temporary signals, and the project is scheduled to be completed by mid-fall. (#14-0286)

C.R. 47 (Denver Road) is closed at its junction with C.R. 46 (Prussia Road), approximately one mile west of S.R. 104, for a realignment and culvert replacement project. In addition, Prussia Road will be closed for realignment and pavement work. While the routes are closed, motorists will be detoured locally and via C.R. 35 (Prosperity Road), S.R. 220 and U.S. 23 at Waverly. (#14-0024)

C.R. 47 (Denver Road) is closed between C.R. 35 (Prosperity Road) and C.R. 33 (Clines Chapel Road) for a bridge replacement project. While the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via local roads. The project is scheduled to be completed by late summer. (#14-0025)

S.R. 220 is now open to two-way traffic following a slip repair project at the 6.10-mile marker, just west of C.R. 36 (Pleasant Hill Road) and Waverly. (#14-0255)

A resurfacing project is under way on U.S. 23 from the Pike-Scioto County line to just north of T.R. 603 (Seif Road); the project also includes paving the interchange ramps to the AEC/DOE facility. Traffic on U.S. 23 will be maintained in a minimum of one lane in each direction. All work is scheduled to be completed in early fall. (#14-0355)

C.R. 37 (Buchanan Road) is closed between S.R. 220 and S.R. 772 for a bridge replacement project. The project site is located just north of Pleasant Hill Road, and the closure will be in effect for up to 90 days. Motorists will be detoured via S.R. 220 and S.R. 772. (#14-0356)

Ross County

A turn-lane addition and widening project is under way on S.R. 159 at the Kenworth Drive intersection. Traffic will be maintained in at least one lane and by flaggers as needed; however, motorists may encounter periods of delay when crews are at work. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in late fall. (#14-0118)

A resurfacing project is under way on U.S. 50 (South Bridge Street & Eastern Avenue) in Chillicothe. Crews will be performing joint repair, signal upgrades, milling and paving along S. Bridge Street, between Main Street and Eastern Avenue, and along Eastern Avenue, from S. Bridge to the U.S. 35 interchange. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction on S. Bridge Street, and Eastern Avenue traffic will be maintained with flaggers. (#14-0300)

Scioto County


A realignment project on S.R. 140 is under way, and crews will be correcting the alignment and curve at the junction with C.R. 14 (Allegheny Hill Road) and C.R. 13 (Gephart Road), between C.R. 3 (Hartley Road) and C.R. 5 (Turkey Foot Road), approximately five miles north of Portsmouth. Throughout construction, S.R. 140 traffic will be maintained in one, 10-foot lane with temporary signals. However, both Allegheny Hill and Gephart roads will be closed at their junction with S.R. 140. Motorists will have access to both routes via their junction with S.R. 140 at the opposite ends of the work zone. The project is scheduled to be completed by mid-fall. (#14-0225)

 

S.R. 335 will be reduced to one lane during daytime, business hours between the Portsmouth corporation limit, just north of C.R. 31 (Swauger Valley Road), and C.R. 12 (Bennett Schoolhouse Road) for a resurfacing and guardrail installation project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained with the aid flaggers, and the project is scheduled to be completed by early fall. (#14-0119)


A demolition project is under way within the corridor of the upcoming S.R. 823 (Portsmouth Bypass) project. Crews are clearing property obtained for the project; however, there should be little to no impact to traffic. All work is scheduled to be completed by late fall. (#14-2001)

 

Lane restrictions are in place on U.S. 52 between the S.R. 239 interchange and the Scioto River bridges at the Portsmouth for a rehabilitation project. Currently, S.R. 852 (S.R. 73/S.R. 104) is reduced to one lane between the Carl Perkins Bridge and S.R. 239 for resurfacing, and traffic is being maintained by flaggers. Intermittent lane restrictions may also be in place on U.S. 52; however, traffic will be maintained in at least one lane in each direction. All work is anticipated to be completed in mid-fall.
