District 9 Weekly Travel Report
For the week ending July 25, 2015: The following traffic advisory includes road construction and major maintenance projects requiring lane restrictions and/or closures along the state and federal highway system within ODOT District 9. DISTRICTWIDE
A raised pavement marker project is under way, and crews will be installing RPMs on various routes throughout the district as weather permits. Traffic will be maintained on affected routes in one lane with the use of flaggers and arrow boards. (#15-1016)
ADAMS COUNTY
S.R. 125 is reduced to one lane between Frank Young and Satterfield roads, approximately 1.5 miles west of S.R. 348, for a slip repair project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one, 10-foot lane with the use of temporary traffic signals. The project is scheduled to be completed in early fall. (#15-0243)
S.R. 41 is closed at the 5.12-mile marker and its junction with C.R. 3 (Clayton Pike) for up to 45 days for a culvert replacement project. Once this project has been completed, operations will move to the 5.89-mile marker, immediately north of C.R. 19 (Suck Run Road), for a culvert replacement project at this location, and the route will remain closed for an additional 45 days. While it is closed, motorists will be detoured via U.S. 52 and S.R. 136. (#15-0166)
BROWN COUNTY
U.S. 62 is closed between C.R. 36 (Gooselick Road) and C.R. 15 (George Miller Road) south of Russellville due to weather-related impacts. An emergency construction project is under way; however, the route is closed until further notice. Motorists are being detoured via S.R. 125 at Russellville to U.S. 68 at Georgetown to U.S. 62 at Red Oak.
S.R. 125 is closed between C.R. 18 (Eden Road) and S.R. 221 at Georgetown due to weather-related impacts. An emergency construction project is scheduled to begin Tuesday, July 21; however, the route is closed until further notice. Motorists are being detoured via U.S. 68 and S.R. 774.
POSTPONED: A two-week drilling and slide repair project on S.R. 763, between C.R. 31 (Martin Hill Road) and S.R. 41 has been postponed. A scheduled to undertake the project has yet to be determined.
JULY 21-31: S.R. 756 will be closed at the 1.97-mile marker and its junction with S.R. 505 for drilling and slide repair. The closure will go into effect at approximately at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, and it will remain in effect until 4 p.m. Friday, July 31, or until all work is completed. While it is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 125 and S.R. 133 in Clermont County to S.R. 756 at Felicity.
U.S. 68 will be reduced to one lane during daytime, working hours for resurfacing. The project extends from S.R. 32 at Mt. Orab to U.S. 50 at Fayetteville, and throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-fall. (#14-0574)
A sidewalk and crosswalk construction project is under way in the village of Mt. Orab. Crews will be constructing sidewalks along Boyd Road, between Longwood Boulevard and Main Street in the village. Throughout construction, there should be little to no impact to traffic; however, motorists are advised to use additional caution in the work zone. All work is anticipated to be completed in mid-summer. (#15-0251)
A resurfacing project is under way on U.S. 62, and crews will be paving the route between its junction with U.S. 68 to the northern corporation limit of Russellville. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers, and all work is scheduled to be completed in early fall. (#15-0061)
S.R. 763 is closed at the 11.92-mile marker, between S.R. 353 and T.R. 221 (W. Fork Road), for a culvert replacement project. Throughout construction, traffic will be detoured by way of S.R. 41 and S.R. 125 in Adams County. All work is scheduled to be completed by mid-summer. (#15-0157)
A resurfacing project is under way on U.S. 68 and U.S. 52. Crews will be paving U.S. 52 from the western corporation limit of Higginsport to just east of T.R. 255 (Pisgah Hill Road) and between Main and Hanover streets in Ripley. Crews will also be paving U.S. 68 from U.S. 50 to the Brown-Clermont County line. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained with the use of flaggers when crews are at work. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-summer. (#14-0471)
HIGHLAND COUNTY
JULY 17-21: S.R. 72 is closed at the Greenfield Railroad line between U.S. 62 at Samantha and S.R. 28 at Highland for railroad crossing repairs. The closure will go into effect at approximately 8 a.m. July 17 and remain in effect through 5 p.m. July 21, or until all work is completed. Motorists will be detoured via U.S. 62 and S.R. 28.
JULY 13-24: S.R. 753 will be closed at the 2.17-mile marker for a 10-day culvert replacement project. The project site is located just north of Couch Road, approximately one mile south of S.R. 506. While the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 41, S.R. 124 and S.R. 506.
JULY 27-31: S.R. 753 will be closed at the 0.72 and the 0.82-mile markers, between T.R. 344A (Eubanks Road) and T.R. 258A (Couch Road), for a dual culvert replacement project. While the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 41, S.R. 124 and S.R. 506.
The first phase of a dual bridge replacement project is under way on T.R. 225 (Tolle Road), where crews will be replacing a bridge situated between S.R. 138 and U.S. 50. The route will be closed, and motorists will be detoured via S.R. 138, Mad River Road and U.S. 50. Construction also includes a bridge replacement on Holladay Road, just north of its junction with Ervin Road. Although the Holladay Road site is not scheduled to be closed until the Tolle Road bridge is completed, intermittent restrictions may be in effect for intersection work. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers during this time; when the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via T.R. 205 (Griffith Road), C.R. 97 (Muhlbach Road), C.R. 7 (Mad River Road) and S.R. 138. A resurfacing and bridge repair project is under way on S.R. 28. Operations will extend from the Clinton County line to the east corporation limit of Leesburg. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers, and all work is scheduled to be completed in early fall. (#14-0508)
Construction is under way to improve and extend Hobart Drive from its junction with U.S. 62 to S.R. 73 at Hillsboro. Currently, two-way traffic is being maintained on affected routes, including S.R. 73, Harry Sauner Road and U.S. 62; however, motorists may encounter restrictions and intermittent periods of delay. In addition, C.R. 10 (Careytown Road) is closed at its junction with Harry Sauner Road. With an interim completion of September 30, 2015 for Phase 1, the entire project is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2016. (#15-8003)
S.R. 247 is now open approximately one mile south of Hillsboro and north of T.R. 268 (Green Road) following a bridge replacement project. Crews have minor finishing work to complete; however, there should be little to no impact to traffic. (#15-0068)
C.R. 11 (Bridges Road) is closed at the 16.76-mile marker, just south of its intersection with S.R. 771, for a bridge replacement and relocation improvement at C.R. 48 (Grimsley Road). Motorists will be detoured via Grimsley Road, Old U.S. 62, U.S. 62, Fairfield Road and S.R. 771. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in mid-fall. (#14-0348)
JACKSON COUNTY
S.R. 327 is closed at the northern corporation limit of Wellston due to a culvert washout and collapsed pavement. The route will be closed until such time that a project to repair the route can be designed and constructed. Motorists are being detoured via S.R. 93, S.R. 683 and U.S. 50.
Harding Avenue in the city of Jackson is closed between Veterans Drive and Triumph Street for a bridge replacement project over Little Salt Creek. While the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via Main and Broadway streets. The project is anticipated to be completed in mid-fall. (#15-0110)
S.R. 139 is closed between Lenhart and Albert Swartz roads for up to 45 days for a bridge replacement project. While the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 279, S.R. 93 and S.R. 32. All work is anticipated to be completed in mid to late summer. (#15-0042)
A resurfacing project is under way in the Cooper Hollow Wildlife Area. Crews will be paving Joe Evans Road to the headquarters, as well as parking areas. Traffic will be maintained with the use of flaggers as needed, and the project is anticipated to be completed in early fall. (#15-1013)
A culvert repair project is under way on S.R. 93, where crews will be installing a liner through the existing culvert situated just north of the Lawrence County line. Throughout construction, two-way traffic will be maintained and with the use of flaggers as needed. The project is scheduled to be completed in early fall. (#8011-15)
Operations for a grade separation project at U.S. 35 and C.R. 9 (Keystone Furnace Road) continue. Traffic impacts on U.S. 35 are minimal, and traffic is being maintained in a minimum of one lane in each direction on the mainline route. Motorists are advised to use additional caution in the work zone. The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-summer. (#14-0140)
LAWRENCE COUNTY
S.R. 243 is closed between S.R. 7 at Bradrick and C.R. 2 (Greasy Ridge Road) for a culvert replacement and alignment reconstruction project. Throughout construction, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 378, S.R. 217, S.R. 775 and S.R. 7, and all work is anticipated to be completed in mid-fall. (#14-0312
A slide repair project is under way on S.R. 775. Crews will be realigning a portion of the route and correcting the slip area that is situated at the north junction of C.R. 2 (Greasy Ridge Road), approximately four miles south of S.R. 141. During the initial phase, there should be little to no impact to traffic; at all other times, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of flaggers. All work should be completed by early summer. (#14-0531)
U.S. 52 West will be reduced subject to single-lane restrictions for a bench cleaning project near the Ashland, Ky., twin bridges overpass at Coal Grove. Westbound traffic will be maintained in at least one lane during daytime, business hours while crews are at work; eastbound traffic should not be affected by this restriction. All work is anticipate to be completed by late summer. (#15-1000)
A bridge replacement project is under way on S.R. 217, between T.R. 101 (Yellow Creek Road) and the west junction with S.R. 378. Throughout the first phase of construction, the route will be closed, and traffic will be detoured via S.R. 378 and S.R. 141. The project is anticipated to be completed in mid-fall. (#15-8010)
The Ironton-Russell Bridge replacement project continues, with work being conducted off affected roadways. In addition to localized closures affecting downtown traffic, motorists are advised of equipment entering and exiting the work zone in Ironton and at the U.S. 23 viaduct in Kentucky. PIKE COUNTY
A guardrail replacement project is under way, and crews will be installing guardrail at various locations on C.R. 85 (Tennyson Road) and C.R. 116 (Beaver Creek Road). Traffic will be maintained by flaggers and arrow boards when crews are at work, and the project is anticipated to be completed in late summer. (#15-0114)
An emergency slide repair project is under way on C.R. 50 (Watson Road), near its junction with C.R. 55 (Hay Hollow Road) and just north of S.R. 335. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one, 10-foot lane with temporary traffic signals. The project is anticipated to be completed in mid-summer. (#14-0432)
A resurfacing project is under way on U.S. 23, where crews are paving the route from approximately one mile south of S.R. 32 to the southern corporation limit of Waverly, as well as from just north of Waverly to the route’s junction with T.R. 438 (Park Road), approximately one-half mile south of the Ross County line. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in a minimum of one lane in each direction, and all work is scheduled to be completed in early fall. (#14-0482)
ROSS COUNTY
A countywide striping project is under way and crews will be applying thermoplastic pavement markings on various routes throughout Ross County as weather permits. Traffic will be maintained in a rolling operation with the use of flaggers and/or arrowboards as needed. All work is anticipated to be completed in early summer. (#14-0469)
S.R. 772 is closed at the 1.89-mile marker for a culvert replacement. The project site is situated between T.R. 152 (Harris Station Road) and T.R. 154 (Camelin Hill Road), and while the route is closed motorists will be detoured by way of U.S. 23, S.R. 104, S.R. 551 and S.R. 220 in Pike County. The closure is scheduled to be in effect for up to 30 days, and all work is anticipated to be completed by late summer. (#15-0307)
A guardrail replacement is under way, and crews are installing guardrail on county roads 1, 28, 60 and 92 as weather permits. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained by flaggers and/or temporary signals. The project is scheduled to be completed by late summer. (#15-0235)
A sidewalk construction project is under way in the village of Frankfort. Crews will be constructing sidewalks along Porter Avenue, East High Street and North Main Street, as well as a pedestrian bridge over Old Town Run on Main Street. Throughout construction, there should be little to no impact to traffic; however, motorists are advised to use additional caution in the work zone. All work is anticipated to be completed in early fall. (#15-0306)
SCIOTO COUNTY
As part of the new S.R. 823 project, T.R. 234 (Shumway Hollow Road) has been closed for relocation and interchange construction. The closure will be in effect throughout the duration of the project, and thru-traffic will be detoured via T.R. 237 (Blake Hollow Road).
S.R. 139 will be reduced to one, 10-foot lane at various locations for bridge rehabilitation and resurfacing. The project zone extends from the Portsmouth corporation limit, near Maple Street, to the Jackson County line. In addition, S.R. 335 will be reduced to one, 10-foot lane between T.R. 228 (Bennett Road) and T.R. 224 (Lyons Road), north of Minford, for bridge repair and resurfacing. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained by temporary traffic signals at the bridge locations and with the use of flaggers through the remainder of the construction zone. (#15-0308)
Eastbound U.S. 52 (Rhodes Avenue) is reduced to one, 12-foot lane through the village of New Boston for a resurfacing project. The project limits from just west of Manning Street to east of Clayport Street. In addition to the road restriction, there will be no parking along the south side lanes during the project. (#15-0208)
A dual bridge replacement is under way on S.R. 140 at the 9.22 and the 9.48-mile markers, between C.R. 17 (Frederick Road) and just east of T.R. 294 (Railroad Hollow Road), one mile west of South Webster. Throughout construction, traffic on S.R. 140 will be maintained with the use of temporary signals; however, Frederick Road is closed, and motorists are being detoured via T.R. 295 (Haines Road) and C.R. 12 (Bennett School House Road). All work is scheduled to be completed in mid to late fall. (#14-0457)
S.R. 348 is reduced to one lane between S.R. 73 and T.R. 110 (Mt. Joy Road), north of Otway, for a slide repair project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one, 10-foot lane with the use of temporary traffic signals. The project is anticipated to be completed in mid to late summer. (#14-0550)
Operations for a bridge replacement are under way on S.R. 73, where crews are replacing the structure at the 1.10–mile marker over Rarden Creek and immediately west of Rarden. Currently, traffic is being maintained in one lane with the use of temporary signals, and all work should be completed by late summer. (#14-0498)
Contractors for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet have closed the Carl Perkins Bridge as part of a bridge painting project, and motorists are being detoured via the U.S. Grant Bridge at Portsmouth. All northbound traffic in Kentucky (KY 8/U.S. 23 North) is being diverted via the Grant Bridge to either Second Street (to U.S. 52 West and Ohio-73) or Gay Street (U.S. 23 North) through downtown Portsmouth. U.S. 23 South or U.S. 52 West passenger vehicles in Ohio are being detoured via Washington Street in Portsmouth; commercial (truck) vehicles are being routed via S.R. 73 East and Second Street.
