District 9 Weekly Travel Report


For the week ending June 20, 2014:
The following traffic advisory includes road construction and major maintenance projects requiring lane restrictions and/or closures along the state and federal highway system within ODOT District 9. For statewide information regarding road conditions affected by  weather, construction, maintenance or accidents, visit ODOT on the web at www.Ohgo.com 
  

Districtwide

A raised pavement marking project is under way, and crews will be working on various routes throughout the district to replace RPMs. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in a rolling operation while crews are at work. All work is anticipated to be completed by early summer. (#14-1018)

An herbicidal spraying project is under way, and crews will be working along various routes throughout the district. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in a rolling operation while crews are at work. All work is anticipated to be completed by late May. (#13-1034)

A pavement marking (long-line striping) project is under way, with contractors working on various routes throughout the district. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in a rolling operation while crews are at work, and all work is anticipated to be completed by early summer. (#13-1027)

Adams County

JUNE 17: S.R. 41 will be closed immediately north of its junction with C.R. 6 (Fawcett Road), approximately three miles south of S.R. 781, for a culvert replacement project. The closure is scheduled to be in effect from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and while the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 247 and S.R. 32.

JUNE 18-19: S.R. 41 will be closed Wednesday and Thursday during daytime, working hours for a pair of culvert replacement projects between T.R. 213 (Smoky Corners Road) and the Highland County line. The single-day closures will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day, with the route open to evening and overnight travel. During periods of closure, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 124 in Highland and Pike counties to S.R. 32 and S.R. 73.

S.R. 125 is closed between Riley Hollow and Hazelbaker roads for a bridge replacement project. The closure is anticipated to be in effect through mid- to late summer, and while the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 348 and Blue Creek Road. (#14-0004)

Brown County

JUNE 16: S.R. 221 will be closed at the 6.5-mile marker, approximately 1.5 miles south of S.R. 125 at Georgetown for as part of a slide repair project. Motorists will be detoured via U.S. 52, U.S. 62/68 and S.R. 125. All work is anticipated to be completed by late summer. (#14-0033)

S.R. 505 is closed at its junction with U.S. 52 at Higginsport for a slip repair project. Throughout construction, traffic will be detoured via U.S. 52, S.R. 133 and S.R. 756 in Clermont County. The project is scheduled to be completed in late summer. (#13-0577)

S.R. 763 is closed between West Fork Road and S.R. 353 for a dual bridge replacement project. The route will be closed for up to 150 days, and motorists will be detoured via S.R. 41, U.S. 52, U.S. 62, and S.R. 353. (#13-8048)

A slide repair project is under way on U.S. 52. Contractors are working as weather permits to repair a rock slide at the 3.58-mile marker, between the Brown-Clermont County line and Higginsport. Crews will be working as weather permits, and traffic will be maintained in two lanes with temporary pavement and flaggers. Motorists are advised of lane shifts and possible restrictions. The project is anticipated to be completed by mid-summer. (#13-0601)

U.S. 68 will be reduced to one lane during daytime, working hours at the S.R. 32 interchange for a turn-lane addition project; crews will also be working along the S.R. 32 East off ramp to U.S. 68 to construct a right-turn lane on the ramp. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained on the affected routes by flaggers and/or arrow boards as needed. The project is scheduled to be completed in late summer. (#13-3020)

 

Highland County

An intersection improvement project is under way at C.R. 5 (Prospect Road), C.R. 74B (Pleasant Road), T.R. 192A (Main Road). Throughout construction, Prospect Road will be closed, and motorists will be detoured via S.R. 73, C.R. 21 (N. Union Road) and C.R. 93 (Harriett Road). All work is anticipated to be completed in late fall. (#14-0014)

Jackson County

U.S. 35 East is reduced to one lane (eastbound direction) for a rock fall/slide repair project just east of C.R. 71 (Lloyds Bridge Road). Crews will be reconstructing the rock slopes and excavating along the eastbound lanes, where traffic will be reduced to one, 12-foot lane. Westbound traffic should not be affected during the initial phase of construction. The project is scheduled to be completed in early fall.  (#14-0114)

Operations for a grade separation project at U.S. 35 and C.R. 9 (Keystone Furnace Road) are under way. Currently, traffic impacts are minimal, and traffic will be maintained on all mainline routes during construction. The project is scheduled to be completed by early summer of 2015. (#14-0140)

S.R. 93 will be reduced to one lane during daytime, business hours from the northern corporation limit of Jackson to the Jackson-Vinton County line for a resurfacing project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained with the aid flaggers, and the project is scheduled to be completed by mid-summer. (#14-0141)


Lawrence County

S.R. 522 is reduced to one lane between C.R. 41 (Buckhorn-Superior Road) and C.R. 27 (Little Pine Creek Road) for an emergency slip repair, and traffic is being maintained with temporary signals. The project is anticipated to be completed by late summer. (#14-9009)

S.R. 7 is now open to two-way traffic just east (north) of its junction with S.R. 527 at Chesapeake following a slide repair/retaining way construction project. Crews will have minor finishing work to complete; however, there should be little to no impact to traffic. (#13-0543)

A bridge replacement project is under way on S.R. 7 at the Indian Guyan Creek bridge, just west of Proctorville. Traffic is being maintained in one, 11-foot lane with temporary traffic signals, and all work is scheduled to be completed by late fall. (#14-0078)

S.R. 217 will be reduced to one lane during daytime, business hours between S.R. 141 and C.R. 2 (Greasy Ridge Road) for a resurfacing project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained with the aid flaggers, and the project is scheduled to be completed by mid-summer. (#14-0119)

 

A bench cleaning project is under way on U.S. 52 West, between T.R. 268 (Crabtree Hollow Road) and C.R. 1 (Old U.S. 52). Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane in the westbound direction and two lanes in the eastbound direction. However, motorists may encounter periods of delay, especially during peak travel times. The project is anticipated to be completed in early summer. (#14-1035)

 

The Ironton-Russell Bridge replacement project is under way, with work being conducted off affected roadways. In addition to localized closures affecting downtown traffic, motorists are advised of equipment entering and exiting the work zone in Ironton and at the U.S. 23 viaduct in Kentucky. (#11-0628)

As part of the Ironton-Russell Bridge replacement, First Street and Campbell Avenue in Ironton will be closed intermittently during daytime, business hours for construction of the Ohio approach. Crews will move from site to site, imparting separate closures as they progress through this phase of the project. Motorists will be detoured locally in downtown.

Pike County

C.R. 47 (Denver Road) is closed at its junction with C.R. 46 (Prussia Road), approximately one mile west of S.R. 104, for a realignment and culvert replacement project. The closure will be in effect for up to 180 days, and while the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via C.R. 35 (Prosperity Road) and S.R. 220 and U.S. 23 at Waverly. (#14-0024)

C.R. 47 (Denver Road) is closed between C.R. 35 (Prosperity Road) and C.R. 33 (Clines Chapel Road) for a bridge replacement project. While the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via local roads. The project is scheduled to be completed by late summer. (#14-0025)

C.R. 85 (Tennyson Road) is closed at its junction with C.R. 21 (Sunfish Creek Road), approximately one mile east of S.R. 772, for a bridge rehabilitation project. The closure will be in effect for up to 120 days, and while the route is closed, motorists will be detoured via S.R. 772 and S.R. 32. (#14-0026)

S.R. 32 is reduced to one lane in the westbound direction at the 20.24-mile marker for a slide repair project. The project site is situated between the CSX Railroad underpass (east of Beaver Creek Road) and the Darst Road/Beaver Pike intersection. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in at least one lane in each direction, although eastbound traffic should not be affected. The project is scheduled to be completed in late spring 2014. (#13-0530)

A slip repair project has begun on S.R. 104, at the 4.6-mile marker, just north of C.R. 21 (Sunfish Creek Road). Crews will be placing rock channel protection along the slope, and during the first phase of construction, there should be little impact to traffic. The project is anticipated to be completed in early summer. (#13-0560)

JUNE 18: S.R. 220 will be reduced to one, 10-foot lane at the 6.10-mile marker for a slip repair project. The project site is located just west of C.R. 36 (Pleasant Hill Road), approximately one mile west of Waverly. Traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of temporary signals. (#14-0255)

S.R. 335 is reduced to one, 10-foot lane are just south of C.R. 56 (Carrs Run Road), approximately four miles north of T.R. 522 (Overly Road) for a slip repair project. Traffic will be maintained by temporary traffic signals, and the project is scheduled to be completed in early summer 2014. (#13-0503)

Ross County

A deck sealing project is under way on U.S. 35, and crews will be replacing sealants on various bridges on the route. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in a minimum of one lane in each direction at designated locations. The project is scheduled to be completed by mid-summer. (#14-1034)

JUNE 15: As part of the U.S. 35 bridge sealing project, the on-ramps from S.R. 104 North to U.S. 35 East and from S.R. 159 North to U.S. 35 West will be closed Sunday, June 15, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

A turn-lane addition project is under way on S.R. 159 at the Kenworth Drive intersection. Crews are clearing the site in preparation for construction, and most work is being conducted off the roadway. During the initial phase, there should be little impact to traffic, and traffic will be maintained by flaggers as needed when crews are at work. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in late fall. (#14-0118)

S.R. 772 will be will be reduced to one lane during daytime, business hours between the Ross-Pike County line and C.R. 167 (Blain Highway) for a resurfacing project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained with the aid flaggers, and the project is scheduled to be completed by mid-summer. (#14-0150)

Scioto County


A bridge repair project is under way on S.R. 73, between Henley-Comstock and Euton roads, just south of the N&S Railroad. Currently, the route is open to two-way traffic; however, crews will be entering and exiting the work site at various times during construction. Motorists are advised to use additional caution in the project area. The project is scheduled to be completed in early summer. (#13-0566)

A realignment project on S.R. 140 is under way, and crews will be correcting the alignment and curve at the junction with C.R. 14 (Allegheny Hill Road) and C.R. 13 (Gephart Road), between C.R. 3 (Hartley Road) and C.R. 5 (Turkey Foot Road), approximately five miles north of Portsmouth. Throughout construction, S.R. 140 traffic will be maintained in one, 10-foot lane with temporary signals. However, both Allegheny Hill and Gephart roads will be closed at their junction with S.R. 140. Motorists will have access to both routes via their junction with S.R. 140 at the opposite ends of the work zone. The project is scheduled to be completed by mid-fall. (#14-0225)

S.R. 348 is reduced to one lane at the Scioto River Bridge, just east of the S.R. 348 and S.R. 104 intersection, for a bridge rehabilitation project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one, 11-foot lane with temporary traffic signals. Motorists are advised to expect periods of delay, especially during peak travel times. The project is anticipated to be completed by mid-fall. (#13-0583)

 

JUNE 13: As part of the S.R. 348 bridge project, the route will be closed during the overnight for crews to pave the roadway. The closure is scheduled to go into effect at 10 p.m. Friday and continue until 4 a.m. Saturday, June 14.


S.R. 335 will be reduced to one lane during daytime, business hours between the Portsmouth corporation limit, just north of C.R. 31 (Swauger Valley Road), and C.R. 12 (Bennett Schoolhouse Road) for a resurfacing and guardrail installation project. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained with the aid flaggers, and the project is scheduled to be completed by early fall. (#14-0119)

 

Lane restrictions are in place on U.S. 52 between the S.R. 239 interchange and the Scioto River bridges at the Portsmouth for a rehabilitation project. Currently, S.R. 852 is reduced to one lane in each direction between the Carl Perkins Bridge to Kentucky and S.R. 73/S.R. 104 North, and U.S. 52 is reduced to one lane in each direction for paving. Traffic on mainline U.S. 52 will be maintained in a minimum of one lane in each direction at all times, and all work is anticipated to be completed in mid-fall. (#12-3008)
