Winter Weather Advisory Will Have District Crews Out
Chillicothe (Monday, January 11, 2016) – Anticipating another night of snow, crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation – District 9 highway maintenance facilities will begin their patrols and snow and ice operations starting at midnight tonight.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory going into effect at 1 a.m. for the District 9 region, with total accumulations of one to two inches by late morning or early afternoon. In addition to snow, temperatures will be falling throughout the day, and wind gusts are likely to pick up, causing blowing and drifting snow.
Based on the area’s forecast and timing maps, snowplow operators in Adams and Brown counties will begin operations at midnight, with the remainder of the district’s eight-county region following shortly thereafter.
As always, ODOT urges motorists to exercise additional caution and to be prepared for changing conditions. Drivers should remember to reduce their speed, allow additional travel time, and maintain a safe following distance behind other vehicles. They should also pay special attention when traveling over bridges and overpasses, which have colder surface temperatures and are likely to freeze more quickly.
