Ironton-Russell Bridge Replacement (LAW-93-0.00)
Construction of a new Ironton-Russell Bridge in Lawrence County is under way. The project calls for the relocation of the bridge that connects Ironton, Ohio, with Russell, Kentucky, by relocating it between Second and Jefferson streets in downtown Ironton and the U.S. 23 viaduct south of Russell. The project also includes demolition of the existing bridge upon completion of the new one.

 Traffic Impacts

Traffic impacts to motorists should be minimal as most work is being conducted off the roadways. However, motorists and residents are advised of the following:

First Street and Campbell Avenue in downtown Ironton are subject to temporary closure and intermittent restrictions for Ohio approach construction.

Heavy equipment and crews are mobilized along U.S. 23 and the viaduct at the Kentucky approach.

Second Street is closed at Jefferson Street where the approach ramp to the new bridge is located.
