Morgan County is located in the southeastern part of the state. State Routes 37, 266, and 669 cross the county east and west, and State Routes 60, 78, 83, 376, and 555 run north and south. The Muskingum River flows through Morgan County.

The Ohio Power Recreation Land Area is a mining reclamation project of some 30,000 acres. Within this area, 2,800 acres have been set aside for the establishment of a Canada geese-raising project. The initial flock of 500 Canada geese, donated by a park in Canada, has since grown to several thousand.

Other attractions in Morgan County include Wolfcreek Wildlife Area; Burr Oak State Park and Lodge; Wayne National Forest; Muskingum River State Park; Button House Museum; Opera House Theater; Big bottom State Memorial; and Old Stockport Mill.
