District 10 is now on Facebook!

MARIETTA (Thursday, June 23, 2011) –Social media sites like Facebook and Twitter are everywhere nowadays. These sites allow people to stay connected to family, friends and stay up-to-date on what’s happening around them.

District 10 of the Ohio Department of Transportation has created a Facebook page,"ODOT-District 10."The page will update the traveling public of the nine counties it serves on current road closures, restrictions and other news that could affect them.

"We have Buckeye Traffic and our own Web site where the closures are listed, but by utilizing Facebook we will be able to reach more people in a faster time," said District 10 Deputy Director T. Steve Williams, P.E.

The Facebook page will allow District 10 to add current closures just by the click of mouse, with the ultimate goal of keeping the public safe and informed of what’s happening around them.

"Information and safety are very important not only to District 10, but to me personally. We all travel on the same roads, sit through the same road construction, and if we can inform and keep just one person safe through our Facebook page, then I think that's a success," said Brenna K. Slavens, Public Information Officer for District 10.
