More traffic changes expected next week at Marion St. in Bridgeport
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Thursday, January 15, 2015) – Weather permitting, the remaining changes to traffic will occur at Marion Street (Exit 225) in Bridgeport on Monday, January 19th, to implement the first phase of work on the major, $9 million bridge replacement project in Belmont County.
The Interstate 70 eastbound exit ramp bridge was closed last week, and Monday, the westbound on-ramp to I-70 will also be closed. Local traffic is being detoured on U.S. Route 40 from Bridgeport to the Belmont County Road 214 Exit. Alternating, two-way traffic will be maintained on Marion Street in a single lane.
Three structures will be replaced, including the Marion Street bridge over I-70 and the eastbound on and off ramp structures to I-70.
Access to Bridgeport will be maintained. However, thru truck traffic is encouraged to use I-470 to avoid congestion and possible delays.
ODOT’s contractor is JD Williamson Construction Co. Inc., from Tallmadge, Ohio, and the completion date is mid-November 2015.
