Work to begin on State Route 7 rock fall just north of Brilliant
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Thursday, January 26, 2012) – Work is expected to begin early next week to clean up the loose rock along the slope above State Route 7 just north of Brilliant in Jefferson County.
Rock fall closed the southbound travel lane last week about ¼ of a mile north of Brilliant. The passing lane will remain open southbound, and both lanes will remain open northbound during this work.
ODOT has hired James White Construction Company, from Weirton, West Virginia, to clean the bench and remove the loose rock.
Officials anticipate this work to take about two months to complete. The total project cost is $420,000.
