ODOT, Village of Cadiz to Complete Win-Win Property Transfer
PHOTO OP: ODOT to hand over Lincoln Avenue Property keys to Mayor of Cadiz
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Monday, February 1, 2010) – In April 2006, the village of Cadiz and the state of Ohio agreed to a land exchange deal in hopes of mutual benefits.
The state received 23.4 acres on Industrial Park Road from the village for the construction and now home of the Ohio Department of Transportation’s (ODOT) Harrison County maintenance operations. Likewise, the state agreed to give the village ODOT’s old property on Lincoln Avenue, which includes 6.6 acres, for future development.
Construction began in August 2006 on ODOT’s new facility, and employees took residence the fall of 2007.
District 11 Deputy Director Richard Bible, P.E. said, "It is collaboration and partnerships like this one that symbolizes our efforts to Ignite Ohio’s Economic Engine by pursuing job creation, business development, and economic growth."
The village is hopeful that it will soon be the beneficiary of this cooperative win-win agreement and see new commercial development at 701 Lincoln Avenue.
