SR 148 delays likely tomorrow; road to be closed this weekend
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Wednesday, February 01, 2017) – State Route 148 traffic may see delays tomorrow between State Route 26 and State Route 145 west of Armstrongs Mills in Belmont County as part of the ongoing, $897,000 bridge replacement project.
ODOT’s contractor, BOG Construction Inc., from Berlin Center, Ohio, will be stopping traffic intermittently throughout the day tomorrow for repairs needed to the temporary widened roadway. Then, the road will be closed Friday and Saturday, February 3rd and 4th, to re-pour the concrete area.
Traffic will be detoured on SR 9 to SR 147 back SR 148.
Work began on this structure in August 2016, restricting the road to one, 11 ½ foot-lane with temporary traffic signals. All work is expected to be completed by the end of May.
The Ohio Department of Transportation maintains the state's largest man-made asset – the transportation system. ODOT's mission is to provide the safe and easy movement of people and goods from place to place. As a $2.8 billion per year enterprise, ODOT invests the bulk of its resources in system preservation through maintenance, construction and snow and ice operations.
The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 11, 2015, and executed by FHWA and ODOT.
