Minor traffic delays expected Monday on SR 7 north of Brilliant
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Thursday, February 2, 2017) – Minor traffic delays are expected Monday, February 6th, on northbound State Route 7 north of Brilliant in Jefferson County for highway lighting repairs.
Between 9 a.m. and noon, northbound SR 7 traffic will be stopped two or three times for a maximum of 15 minute intervals to fix some of the highway lighting within the construction work zone for the slope repair project.
Motorists are urged to plan ahead and use alternate route to avoid delays.
SR 7 has been reduced to one lane in each direction on the northbound side of the highway between Rayland and Brilliant since March 2011 due to three separate rock fall events and associated landslides. Altogether, over $68 million has been invested into repairing this hillside and improving the long-term safety for motorists along SR 7 through this area. All four lanes of SR 7 are expected to reopen upon in 2018.
