ODOT seeks comments on National Road improvements in Belmont County
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Tuesday, February 12, 2013) – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 is proposing improvements to four miles of U.S. Route 40 (National Road) within the villages of Brookside and Bridgeport in Belmont County.
The project (PID 85112) will rehabilitate the existing pavement to ensure a safe and efficient roadway facility. It will include: mill and fill of the existing pavement with limited full depth repair, curb and sidewalk replacement in specific areas, and minimal drainage improvements. Bridge work will be limited to sidewalk repair and new railing on a single structure.
Construction is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2015. Traffic will be maintained using part-width construction techniques
ODOT is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental, and economic impacts of this proposed project. Environmental impacts include those involving archeological, architectural and ecological resources, hazardous materials, and the general location of the project.
