Motorists should expect traffic delays on State Route 7 near Brilliant
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Wednesday, February 15, 2012) – State Route 7 traffic delays are expected again today and the rest of this week just north of Brilliant in Jefferson County as part of a rock removal project.
Both north and southbound traffic will be stopped intermittently between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. today through Saturday, Feb.18th. Traffic will be stopped for 15 minutes at a time to allow for rock removal.
ODOT’s rockfall remediation subcontractor, Janod Inc., from New York, began work last week to clean up the loose rock along the hillside. Rockfall restricted the southbound lanes of SR 7 in mid-January.
One lane remains open in both directions.
ODOT’s contractor for this project is The James White Construction Company, from Weirton, West Virginia. Officials anticipate this work to take about two months to complete, and the total project cost is $420,000.
