Traffic delays expected next Tuesday morning for Fort Steuben Bridge demolition
U.S. Route 22 and State Route 7 to be closed for about 20 minutes
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Thursday, February 16, 2012) – Traffic around Steubenville will be stopped early next Tuesday morning to allow for the blast scheduled to demolish the Fort Steuben Bridge in Jefferson County.
Around 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, February 21st, traffic on U.S. Route 22, the Veterans Memorial Bridge, and State Route 7 will be brought to a stop at minimum of 1,000 feet away from the Fort Steuben structure.
Traffic will be controlled and coordinated by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the West Virginia state police, and the city of Steubenville police department.
Officials expect traffic to be moving again within minutes of the area being cleared after the blast.
Motorists are advised to plan their morning commutes around these closures and take an alternate route, if possible.
