State Route 7 traffic to be detoured tomorrow morning
Plan ahead to avoid delays
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Wednesday, February 17, 2016) – State Route 7 traffic will be detoured after the morning rush tomorrow, Thursday, February 18th, for blasting work on the hillside near Rush Run in Jefferson County.
Starting at 9 a.m., SR 7 traffic will be detoured on the signed alternate route:
Northbound SR 7
1) Take the Rayland Exit to SR 150
2) Travel west of SR 150 into Dillonvale
3) In Dillonvale, take SR 152 north into Smithfield
4) In Smithfield, SR 152 becomes SR 151; take SR 151 east back to SR 7
Southbound SR 7
1) Take the SR 151 New Alexandria/Smithfield Exit
2) Travel west on SR 151 into Smithfield
3) In Smithfield, take SR 152 south into Dillonvale
4) In Dillonvale, travel east on SR 150 back to SR 7
Motorists are urged to plan ahead to avoid delays. The road is expected to be reopened to traffic by noon.
ODOT’s contractor for this $16 million slope repair project is Kokosing Construction Company Inc., from Columbus, Ohio, and the completion date for the entire project is October 31, 2016.
This project is approximately ½ mile in length and includes excavation and benching the failed rock face and wooded slopes above SR 7, pavement rehabilitation, and construction of a permanent rock catchment area.
