Clark Road bridge over Interstate 70 to be replaced at St. Clairsville
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Monday, February 20, 2017) – Work is getting started for an upcoming bridge replacement project on Clark Road (County Road 4) over Interstate 70 at St. Clairsville in Belmont County.
The bridge on Clark Road, located just east of Exit 216 between SR 9 and Mall Road, will be reduced to one, 11-foot lane with temporary traffic signals on Monday, March 6th. ODOT’s contractor, Shelly & Sands, Inc., from Columbus, Ohio, will begin setting the poles for the traffic signals today. Minimal impacts to traffic are expected until March.
I-70 lanes will be shifted but otherwise will not be impacted during this work.
The cost of this project is $1.6 million, and the completion date is October 31, 2017.
The Ohio Department of Transportation maintains the state's largest man-made asset – the transportation system. ODOT's mission is to provide the safe and easy movement of people and goods from place to place. As a $2.8 billion per year enterprise, ODOT invests the bulk of its resources in system preservation through maintenance, construction and snow and ice operations.
The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 11, 2015, and executed by FHWA and ODOT.
