Nine Salem intersections to be upgraded
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Wednesday, February 22, 2017) – Work is expected to begin next week to upgrade the traffic signals at nine different intersections in the city of Salem, Columbiana County.
The signals will be upgraded at:
1) Howard Ave. & SR 14 (State Street)
2) Ellsworth Ave. (SR 9) & SR 14/SR 9
3) Broadway Ave. & SR 9/SR 14
4) Lundy Ave. & SR 9/SR
5) SR 9/SR 14 & SR 344
6) Pershing St. & SR 344
7) 2nd St. & Ellsworth Ave.
8) Pershing St. & SR 9
9) Pershing St. & Broadway Ave.
Traffic will be maintained with flaggers.
ODOT’s contractor for this $330,000 project is Perram Electric Inc., from Wadsworth, Ohio, and the completion date is June 30, 2017.
The Ohio Department of Transportation maintains the state's largest man-made asset – the transportation system. ODOT's mission is to provide the safe and easy movement of people and goods from place to place. As a $2.8 billion per year enterprise, ODOT invests the bulk of its resources in system preservation through maintenance, construction and snow and ice operations.
The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 11, 2015, and executed by FHWA and ODOT.
