Upcoming nightly lane restrictions on Interstate 70 at County Road 78 may slow traffic in coming weeks
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Thursday, March 2, 2017) – Starting tonight, Interstate 70 traffic may experience some slight delays over the next two weeks during the nighttime hours at the County Road 78 (Plainfield Road) bridge replacement project in Belmont County.

They will close the travel lanes first to set the outside barrier wall in both directions, and then they will switch to passing lane closures to do the inside shoulders.
Starting March 9th through March 24th, nightly lane closures on I-70 are expected from 7 PM to 9 AM while removes the old bridge deck and beams over the highway.
Intermittent, 15 minute closures of both east and westbound lanes are expected during this work; however, no delays will take place on Friday or Saturday nights.
CR 78 will be closed for 90 days on Monday, March 6th. Traffic will be detoured on Township Road 808 to County Road 80 to U.S. Route 40 to County Road 40B back to County Road 78, and reverse.
The completion date for the $1.5 million project is August 31, 2017.
