ODOT seeks comments on County Road 10 improvements near Fairpoint
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Tuesday, March 15, 2011) – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 is proposing drainage and slope improvements along Belmont County Road 10 (CR10) near Fairpoint, Ohio.
The project will alleviate pavement heave and restore a normal cross slope to 550’ of the roadway. Additionally, the uphill slope above CR10 will be reconstructed. This slope correction will extend approximately 30-feet off the existing roadway centerline. A 20-feet bench will be constructed in the middle of the reformed slope. A lined drainage ditch will be constructed across the new slope to drain water towards a culvert located under CR10.
The project will require minor right of way to complete the project. At least one lane of traffic will be maintained during construction, except for a period not to exceed seven consecutive calendar days when through traffic may be detoured. Construction is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2012.
ODOT is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental, and economic impacts of the proposed project. Environmental impacts include impacts associated with architectural and ecological resources, hazardous materials, and the general location of the project.
Written comments concerning the project may be mailed to the Ohio Department of Transportation, District 11, Attention: Thomas Stratton, 2201 Reiser Avenue SE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663. ODOT District 11 can also be contacted by telephone at 330-339-6633. All comments must be submitted by April 15, 2011.
