Work to Begin on State Route 152 Bridge over U.S. Route 22 at Bloomingdale Exit
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) --The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 will begin work Monday, March 30, 2009, to repair the State Route 152 bridge over U.S. Route 22 at the Bloomingdale Exit in Jefferson County.
SR 152 will be closed to traffic on March 30th for 65 days, and U.S. 22 will be restricted to 14-foot lanes both east and westbound under the bridge.
SR 152 northbound traffic will be detoured east on U.S. 22 to the Broadacre Interchange and back; southbound traffic will be detoured west on U.S. 22 to the Hopedale Interchange and back.
This bridge beam was damaged in December 2007 by an oversized load. However, the bridge deck will also be replaced as part of this project.
ODOT’s contractor for this project estimated to cost $1.5 million is the Beaver Excavating Company, from Canton, Ohio. Work is expected to be completed by June 30, 2009.
ODOT reminds motorists to SLOW DOWN for the "Cone Zone;" turn on headlights and drive carefully in work zones. Drive responsibly for your safety and the safety of the highway workers. Remember, fines in work zones are doubled for not obeying traffic signs. Minimize distractions – turn OFF cell phones in construction zones. Remember to always buckle up.
