State Route 7 remains closed in Jefferson County south of Wellsville Exit due to rock fall
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Friday, March 18, 2011) – All four lanes of State Route 7 remain closed in Jefferson County between State Route 213 and Wellsville due to rock fall.
ODOT has hired a rock remediation contractor, Janod Inc., from New York, that will be on-site today to begin scaling the hillside and remove the remaining loose rock face while ODOT crews cleanup the rock and debris from the ground.
Officials anticipate this work to take about a week to complete and cost approximately $75,000.
Both north and southbound traffic is being detoured onto U.S. Route 22 west to SR 43 north to SR 164 north to SR 39 east back to SR 7 and reverse.
