WORK TO RESUME ON STATE ROUTE 170 IN CALCUTTA
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) --The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 will resume work Sunday night, March 30, 2008, at 7 p.m. to reconstruct and widen State Route 170 from just west of County Road 447 to just south of County Road 430 in Calcutta, Columbiana County, in order to alleviate congestion and improve safety.
Work began in April of last year but was suspended for the winter in mid-December. Work also includes the realignment of Huston Road and Sprucevale Avenue, the installation of new curbs and gutters, construction of a new storm sewer system, and improvements to substandard horizontal curves.
ODOT District 11 Deputy Director Dick Bible, P.E. said, "To minimize traffic delays caused by this work and inconvenience to motorists, we've restricted the time of day the contractor may work to nighttime hours. Therefore, all work on this project will continue to take place between the hours of 7 p.m. and 7 a.m."
ODOT's contractor for this $7.45 million project is Kirila Contractors Inc., from Brookfield, Ohio, and the completion date is July 2008.
