ODOT SEEKS COMMENTS ON STATE ROUTE 148 ROADWAY IMPROVEMENTS IN BELMONT COUNTY
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) --The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 is proposing improvements to State Route 148 in York Township, Belmont County approximately six miles west of the village of Powhatan Point.
The project would realign the roadway to the north between SR 148 and the Norfolk Southern Railroad line, eliminating an existing landslide along the southern side of the roadway and a rock fall hazard on the roadway’s northern or uphill slope. Additionally, the project would replace a concrete box culvert, carrying an unnamed tributary of Captina Creek under SR 148.
Construction is anticipated to take place during the summer of 2010. New right of way will be required to complete the project.
ODOT is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental and economic impacts of the proposed project. Environmental impacts include impacts associated with architectural and ecological resources, hazardous materials, and the general nature of the project.
Written comments concerning the project may be mailed to the Ohio Department of Transportation, District 11, Attention: Amber Hewitt, 2201 Reiser Avenue SE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663. ODOT District 11 can also be contacted by telephone at 330-339-6633. All comments must be submitted by April 28, 2008.
