Upcoming nightly lane restrictions on Interstate 70 at County Road 78 may slow traffic in coming weeks
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Monday, March 27, 2017) – Starting tomorrow night, March 28th, Interstate 70 traffic may experience some slight delays over the next two weeks during the nighttime hours at the County Road 78 (Plainfield Road) bridge replacement project in Belmont County.
Between 7 PM and 9 AM, ODOT’s contractor, Shelly & Sands Inc., from Columbus, Ohio, will be closing lanes both east and westbound on I-70 for concrete work. This work will be completed by Friday, March 31st.
Then starting next Wednesday night, April 5th, there will be additional lane closures for two weeks while new beams are set over the highway.
CR 78 was closed for 90 days on March 6th. Traffic is being detoured on Township Road 808 to County Road 80 to U.S. Route 40 to County Road 40B back to County Road 78, and reverse.
The completion date for the $1.5 million project is August 31, 2017.
The Ohio Department of Transportation maintains the state's largest man-made asset – the transportation system.
