Resurfacing Work to Begin Next Week on Interstate 77 Between New Philadelphia and Stone Creek

(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) --The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 will begin work next Monday, April 6th, weather permitting, to resurface Interstate 77 between New Philadelphia and Stone Creek in Tuscarawas County.

Over eight miles of I-77 will be resurfaced from just north of the New Philadelphia Exit (Exit 81) to just south of Stone Creek.

One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction during working hours, Monday through Friday. No work will occur on the weekends. All lanes will be open to traffic by noon on Fridays until work resumes at 6 a.m. on Mondays.

ODOT’s contractor for this $8.9 million project is The Shelly Company, from Thornville, Ohio, and the completion date is September 15, 2009.

ODOT reminds motorists to SLOW DOWN for the "Cone Zone;" turn on headlights and drive carefully in work zones.  Drive responsibly for your safety and the safety of the highway workers.  Remember, fines in work zones are doubled for not obeying traffic signs. Minimize distractions – turn OFF cell phones in construction zones.   Remember to always buckle up.
