Interstate 70 Signs to be Upgraded in Belmont County
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) -- The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 will begin work next Monday, April 13th, to upgrade signs along sixteen miles of Interstate 70 in Belmont County.
ODOT's contractor, Lake Erie Construction Company from Norwalk, Ohio, will be replacing the existing I-70 highway signs from the Guernsey County line to the U.S. Route 40 overpass just west of St. Clairsville.
Most work will occur from the shoulder of the highway; however, some traffic may be flagged on the roadways under I-70 at interchanges. Minimal impacts to I-70 traffic are expected.
The completion date for this $422,150 project is August 31, 2009.
ODOT reminds motorists to SLOW DOWN for the "Cone Zone;" turn on headlights and drive carefully in work zones. Drive responsibly for your safety and the safety of the highway workers. Remember, fines in work zones are doubled for not obeying traffic signs. Minimize distractions – turn OFF cell phones in construction zones. Remember to always buckle up.
