Work to resume next week on Interstate 70 in Belmont County
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Monday, April 11, 2011) – Work will resume next Monday, April 18th, weather permitting, on the $23 million, five-mile major upgrade project on Interstate 70 in Belmont County.
Work began a year ago on the highway, stretching 2.5 miles on each side of Exit 208.
ODOT's contractor, Kokosing Construction Company, from Columbus, Ohio, completed the reconstruction of the westbound lanes last year.
Beginning Monday, April 18th, eastbound traffic will be shifted onto temporary pavement, while those lanes are reconstructed this year. Westbound traffic will only be affected at the bridges.
The eastbound rest area will remain closed until the completion of the project anticipated for mid-November 2011.
