Area bridges to be inspected next week
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Tuesday, April 25, 2017) – Weather permitting, several area bridges will undergo routine annual inspections next week during daytime hours by an ODOT crew and a snooper truck.
On Monday, May 1st, officials will inspect the U.S. Route 40 bridge at Blaine over Wheeling Creek and County Road 10 in Belmont County.
On Tuesday, May 2nd, the Interstate 70 bridge over Wheeling Creek east of Bridgeport will be inspected, and on Wednesday, May 3rd, the I-70 bridge over SR 7, Wheeling Creek, and the Ohio River at Bridgeport will be inspected.
On Thursday, May 4th, crews will inspect the SR 7 bridge just south of Fifth Street at Martins Ferry.
Traffic will be restricted but maintained at all of these locations during this work.
The Ohio Department of Transportation maintains the state's largest man-made asset – the transportation system. ODOT's mission is to provide the safe and easy movement of people and goods from place to place. As a $2.8 billion per year enterprise, ODOT invests the bulk of its resources in system preservation through maintenance, construction and snow and ice operations.
The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 11, 2015, and executed by FHWA and ODOT.
