Bridge deck sealing project to restrict traffic along Interstate 70
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Tuesday, April 25, 2017) – Work is expected to begin later this week on a maintenance project to seal 25 bridge decks around eastern Ohio, including 11 on Interstate 70 in Belmont County.
On Thursday, April 27th, ODOT’s contractor Ram Construction Services, from Livonia, Michigan, plans to start work on the I-70 bridges over County Road 24 at Boydsville.
Lanes will be closed nightly between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. and is expected to take two days per bridge. However, one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction at all times.
On Saturday, April 29th, work will begin on the I-70 bridge over I-470, which includes the westbound on-ramp from U.S. Route 40. Work at this location will take three days, and the on-ramp will be closed for 12 hours, starting Monday night, May 1st. On-ramp traffic will be detoured on U.S. 40 west to Mall Rd. At Mall Rd., traffic can use the westbound on-ramp.
Work will also be performed from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. on three other I-70 structures located between the Guernsey County line and SR 149 at Morristown. Weather permitting, I-70 work should be finished in Belmont County by May 8th.
Sealing will also take place on six, State Route 11 bridges in Columbiana County and eight, I-77 bridges in Tuscarawas County as part of this $434,000 project.
The completion date for all work is July 31, 2017.
