ODOT seeks comments on proposed intersection improvements in Belmont County

 
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Wednesday, April 30, 2014)The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 is seeking comments about proposed improvements at two State Route 7 intersections in Belmont County – Aetna Street in Bridgeport and Hanover Street in Martins Ferry.
Improvements will include construction of southbound right-hand turn lanes, traffic signal replacements, restoration of worn pavement markings, installation of pedestrian crossing facilities, and removal of concrete medians at both intersections.
The Aetna Street and SR 7 intersection will also include an access point for the shopping center on the northwest corner of the intersection.
Construction is anticipated to begin in the summer of 2015. Traffic will be maintained during construction. Minor new right of way will be required to complete the project; however, no residential or business relocations will be required.
ODOT is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental, and economic impacts of this proposed project. Environmental impacts include those involving archeological, architectural and ecological resources, hazardous materials and the general location of the project.
