U.S. Route 22 to be Closed Next Week at Bloomingdale Exit
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) -- U.S. Route 22 will be closed next week, weather permitting, as part of the State Route 152 bridge replacement project over the highway at the Bloomingdale Exit in Jefferson County.
ODOT's contractor, Beaver Excavating Company, from Canton, Ohio, will begin to erect the structural steel for the new bridge over the eastbound lanes of U.S. 22 around 8 a.m. Monday. They anticipate moving to the westbound lanes of U.S. 22 Wednesday.
U.S. 22 traffic will be rerouted onto the exit ramps and back onto the highway. Main line U.S. 22 should be reopened to traffic by Friday evening.
SR 152 was closed to traffic at the end of March for 65 days. Northbound SR 152 traffic is being detoured east on U.S. 22 to the Broadacre Interchange and back; southbound traffic is being detoured west on U.S. 22 to the Hopedale Interchange and back.
The completion date for this $1.5 million project is June 30, 2009.
ODOT reminds motorists to SLOW DOWN for the "Cone Zone;" turn on headlights and drive carefully in work zones. Drive responsibly for your safety and the safety of the highway workers. Remember, fines in work zones are doubled for not obeying traffic signs. Minimize distractions – turn OFF cell phones in construction zones. Remember to always buckle up.
