ODOT seeks comments on State Route 39 rock fall remediation project at Salineville in Columbiana County
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Tuesday, May 07, 2013) – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 11 is seeking comments on a rock fall remediation project (PID 92354) along State Route 39 in Salineville, Columbiana County.
The proposed project will alleviate an existing rock fall hazard on SR 39 to maintain a safe and efficient highway facility. Work will include the lay back of the hillside adjacent to the roadway, construction of a type D-50 barrier wall, and catchment ditch to eliminate the hazard.
Construction is anticipated to begin in 2017. Traffic will be detoured during construction, and minor new right of way will be required to complete the project.
ODOT is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental, and economic impacts of this proposed project. Environmental impacts could include those involving archaeological, architectural and ecological resources, hazardous materials, and the general location of the project.
