Slide repair project to begin on County Road 53
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Tuesday, May 09, 2017) – Work is expected to begin next Monday, May 15th, to repair a slide east of Bergholz on County Road 53 (Bergholz New Somerset Road) in Jefferson County.
The project is located between CR 54 and Twp. Rd. 54. Starting May 22nd, the roadway will be reduced to one, 10-foot lane with temporary signals to maintain two-way traffic.
ODOT’s contractor for this $305,000 project is Shelly & Sands Inc., from Columbus, Ohio, and the completion date is July 31, 2017.
The Ohio Department of Transportation maintains the state's largest man-made asset – the transportation system. ODOT's mission is to provide the safe and easy movement of people and goods from place to place. As a $2.8 billion per year enterprise, ODOT invests the bulk of its resources in system preservation through maintenance, construction and snow and ice operations.
The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 11, 2015, and executed by FHWA and ODOT.
