State Route 149 at Bellaire to be closed Wednesday night for culvert installation
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Monday, May 10, 2010) – A section of State Route 149 at Bellaire in Belmont County will be closed to traffic overnight Wednesday, May 12th, for a culvert installation.
SR 149 will be closed about 1,000 feet west of the traffic signals on Belmont Street between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., while ODOT's contractor installs the new culvert. Traffic will be detoured on old SR 149 (Washington Street).
This work is part of the 1.4 mile relocation project on SR 149 that began in July 2008. ODOT's contractor for this $7.1 million project is Shelly & Sands Inc., from Zanesville, Ohio, and the completion date is November 2010.
ODOT reminds motorists to SLOW DOWN for the "Cone Zone;" turn on headlights and drive carefully in work zones. Drive responsibly for your safety and the safety of the highway workers. Remember, fines in work zones are doubled for not obeying traffic signs. Minimize distractions – turn OFF cell phones in construction zones. Remember to always buckle up.
