State Route 800 Closure Postponed Again
(NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO) --State Route 800 will not be closed as planned tomorrow, May 12th, just north of Tippecanoe in Harrison County for a culvert replacement. It has been postponed for the second time due to high water levels in the Stillwater Creek and forecasted rain.
Officials are hopeful that the roadway can be closed next Tuesday, May 19th, if conditions permit.
The road will be closed for nine days. Beginning at the intersection of SR 800 and SR 342 in Freeport, traffic will be detoured west on SR 342 to SR 258 north back to SR 800 and reverse. There is also a shorter detour around the construction area for local traffic only.
The roadway is expected to be reopened to traffic May 27th, weather permitting.
ODOT’s contractor for this $82,000 project is Ohio-West Virginia Excavating Co., from Powhatan Point, Ohio.
ODOT reminds motorists to SLOW DOWN for the "Cone Zone;" turn on headlights and drive carefully in work zones. Drive responsibly for your safety and the safety of the highway workers. Remember, fines in work zones are doubled for not obeying traffic signs. Minimize distractions – turn OFF cell phones in construction zones. Remember to always buckle up.
