Night paving to take place at Martins Ferry intersections this week
New Philadelphia, Ohio (Monday, May 23, 2016) – Starting tonight, nighttime paving will take place this week at Aetna and Hanover Streets in Martins Ferry along State Route 7.
To minimize the delays caused by this work, ODOT’s contractor, Shelly & Sands Inc., from Columbus, Ohio, for this $1.36 million intersection improvement project will be working at night from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. to mill and fill the intersections.
One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction.
ODOT District 11 Deputy Director Lloyd MacAdam said, “The goal is to have traffic restored and all lanes open, including the two new turn lanes at each intersection, by the upcoming Memorial Day weekend.”
Work will conclude next week with nighttime paving of Aetna and Hanover Streets and pavement marking installation.
The Ohio Department of Transportation maintains the state's largest man-made asset – the transportation system. ODOT's mission is to provide the safe and easy movement of people and goods from place to place. As a $2.8 billion per year enterprise, ODOT invests the bulk of its resources in system preservation through maintenance, construction and snow and ice operations.
The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by ODOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 11, 2015, and executed by FHWA and ODOT.
